(please note: we are talking about Healthy Cholesterol here, not polyunsaturateds)
"Within cells, CHOLESTEROL is also a precursor molecule for several biochemical pathways. For example, it is the precursor molecule for the synthesis of vitamin D and all steroid hormones, including the adrenal gland hormones cortisol and aldosterone, as well as the sex hormones progesterone, estrogens, and testosterone, and their derivatives.[5][22] "
"Abnormally low levels of cholesterol are termed hypocholesterolemia. Research into the causes of this state is relatively limited, but some studies suggest a link with depression, cancer, and cerebral hemorrhage."
Cholesterol performs a myriad of other vital tasks in the body. It is one of the Building Blocks of the body.
So why has the British government been pedalling Low Fat Diet and Statins ?
Because they are controlled by Big Pharma who are making a fortune out of everybody's ignorance. Does all this come as a surprise to you? Dr Malcolm Kendrick has been saying all this for years. Cholesterol good, statins bad!
Thanks greygoose I haven't been reading any of Dr Malcolm Kendrick's writings. Until October time I've been fighting a losing battle with my health, fighting endos, fighting Profs of Endos, writing long letters to my GP about why I need to keep my T3 etc etc. Now I eat Cholesterol !!!! I have known about Big Pharma, but my brain wasn't in an adequately working state (due to Hashimotos) to realise how bad my diet was despite eating home made meals, salads, no puddings, etc. I had genuinely believed that we should cut the level of our fats in our diets down. I had appeared to be optimally dosed but I was still getting some bad mental health symptoms; added good cholesterol (plus cut all grains) in September and by November have been more normal than since my teens.
The mental health symptoms could be because you were cutting out fats. Low fat diets can cause depression and even suicidal thoughts. The body needs fat to be healthy.
Besides, there is no connection between fat and cholesterol, they're two different things. Fat isn't magically transformed into cholesterol when we eat it.
And, as you have now discovered, we also need cholesterol to be healthy. And dietary cholesterol really doesn't come in to it at all. Cholesterol is made in the liver, and the liver makes such huge quantities that the amount you eat is just a drop in the ocean in comparison. And the more you eat, the less the liver makes, and vice versa. And the liver makes cholesterol because the body so badly needs it, for all sorts of things. Also, there's no such thing as good and bad cholesterol - it's all good! The good and bad bit was just made up by Big Pharma to scare people into taking statins! lol
Are you saying that the Government are being controlled by Big Pharma? I know the British Public (in fact the whole world) are being controlled by Big Pharma, but if the British Government is too, then the world needs to implode and start again
