Nodules usually means something wrong with your thyroid I would ask the doctor to referral to a Endocronligist

Do you have any symptoms with your nodules such as feeling freezing cold when it’s not cold ,cognitive issues or dry skin or anything

Psf1,

It is standard practice in the UK to fine needle aspirate (FNA) biopsy nodules >2cm to rule out malignancy. The procedure isn't painful because you will be given a topical anaesthetic before the needle is inserted. It is a little uncomfortable lying with your throat thrust upwards while the biopsies are taken. I was told to press a gauze pad as hard as possible against the biopsy site for 20-30 minutes to reduce swelling and bruising. I had some bruising for a few days but discomfort was mild. Paracetamol will deal with any discomfort.

95% of thyroid nodules are benign so try not to worry about results which may take a few weeks to come back.

'Cold' thyroid nodules don't usually affect thyroid levels. 'Hot' thyroid nodules secrete hormone and cause hyperthyroidism.

Thank you for your reply clutter. I will try not to worry it’s not the procedure it’s the findings ,, lost two family members in last two years ,, nothing to do with thyroid or noduals ,, but it’s left me with not much faith in doctors..

Psf1,

I had thyroid cancer and am now in my 5th year of remission. It is one of the easier cancers to treat and has a very high survival rate.

I’m pleased to here your in remission ,, did u have thyroid problems before u found out u had cancer ? Or was it something new ? Cancer is a horrible horrible disease , iv had to watch close family members suffer , so this makes me really fearful.

He will send reports to docs for them to discuss but as far as he’s concerned the nodules look benign . Good news for me ,, but still need to get to bottom of my symptoms..
