Doctor in North West UK or anywhere in UK

Can anyone recommend a private doctor in the UK, preferably in North West that is willing to prescribe natural desiccated thyroid NDT or Armour Thyroid, WP Thyroid. Iris for my 13 year old daughter. she is having bad side effects from levothyroxine and the consultant says there is no alternative to this.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It is so sad that children are left to suffer. I couldn't get well on levo either. There is a blood test for a gene defect and if we have this defect we cannot convert levothyroxine at all to T3, which is its purpose so they'd have to prescribe T3 - like it or not.

For full evaluation you ideally need TSH, FT4, FT3, TT4, TPO and TG antibodies, plus vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested

Essential to test vitamins FIRST, higher likely to be too low and need supplementing

plus if she has Hashimoto's (high antibodies) then very likely needs to be on strictly gluten free diet first too

See if you can get full thyroid and vitamin testing from GP. Unlikely to get FT3

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results
