Possible Hashimoto's

Hi I've had an underactive thyroid for 16 years and generally cope reasonably well. Lots of exercise good diet etc. Hair has always fallen out but just recently so much more and i have developed a goitre, feeling extra cold and tired and more stressed. Been to the GP he is sending me for a scan. Has anyone else had similar symptoms. The goitre feels really heavy and as if something is stuck in my throat.

If you ever had thyroid peroxidase or thyroglobulin antibodies over range that confirms Hashimoto's has caused hypothyroidism. There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Levothyroxine treatment is for the low thyroid levels it causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.

Goitre is a swelling of the thyroid gland. This may be due to undermedication and high TSH may be flogging the thyroid to produce more hormone and causing the thyroid gland to swell to do so. Goitre may also be caused by Hashimoto's inflamming the thyroid gland.

Do you have recent thyroid results and ranges you can post? Members will be able to advise whether you are optimally dosed or require a dose increase.
