That will be suitable for an adult with low vitamin D but not for vitamin D deficiency. Ideally you will have vitamin D level tested before you supplement to see what dose you need.
I don't think you should use it for children without first knowing what their vitamin D level is. Vit D is stored in fat and if levels become toxic it can affect calcium levels and kidney, bladder and gall stones can develop.
There's specific D3 available for children, who will need lower dosage due to less body weight. If you do a search for children's vitamin D, there should be lots of acurate information from various sites, including the NHS & Vitamin D Council.
