I have had the above on and off ever since the menopause but recently QI have been having a few almost every day. Do you think it is my underactive Thyroid.

It could be, but also can be low B12. Very common when hypo

Have you had vitamin D, Folate, ferritin and B12 checked?

If these are low it may be possible reason your TSH was low in recent posts. Good you stood your ground and didn't reduce Levo

For full evaluation you ideally need TSH, FT4, FT3, TT4, TPO and TG antibodies, plus vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested

You are unlikely to get full thyroid and vitamin testing from GP

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH and most consistent results

Well I am 73 so it shouldn't be menopause

Shouldn't be, but mine went on post menopause until I got hormone replacement, so I assume I'd still have them without the hormones regardless of age. My cousin was still having them at 70.

What you say is very interesting as I have been reading a lot about menopause recently. I will turn 49 next month and the first symptoms of approaching menopause showed up a few months ago, primarily hot flushes and terrible night sweats, causing me to wake up every other hour and wake up in the morning more exhausted than when I went to bed...from what I gather, these symptoms usually start a couple of years before a woman gets her last period, and then usually subside, but they can also go on for years or even indefinitely...have you seen a gynecologist about it? Ever considered using HRT?

I am 73 now. Had HRT until I was 65 then the Doctor said I could no longer have it as at my age it would be a health risk.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope other members with the same or similar experiences will be able to help you and make useful suggestions.

You're not on the new Teva brand are you? I found they gave me sweating episodes which were awful. Now back on Eltroxin and a lot better.

What are your blood results?

TSH 0.01. T4 23. They said I should lower the dose but I am still lacking in energy so Told my GP I want to stay on same dose.

Sometimes you can get symptoms when over as well as under. Have you had your iron, ferritin, D and B12 checked?
