I am very grateful that someone on here suggested a Facebook page to join for advice. I have joined Thyroid Care Group on Facebook and have found it to be the most helpful group on FB. I am now trying a new thyroid protocol (which is given free of charge in the files section on the fb group) under the guidance of Roderick Lane, ND. rodericklane.co.uk
I would like to start a meetup/support group for people with thyroid issues in the Kent area. I am in Gravesend but willing to travel.
I am 59, originally from London and moved to Kent in 1994 and have lost contact with London folks, even local acquaintances, particularly since the kids have grown up and also having had bowel cancer surgery, ileostomy and reversal and chemo and becoming a hermit.
It is time to tackle this Hashimoto's that is not being treated optimally via the nhs so I am going down the natural, gut healing route and I would like to meet with other thyroid sufferers locally.
Anyone interested ?

Hi Carolcatfanatic, just read your post, i live in Kent too, Deal and like you i moved from London in 2004 i am defo interested in a support group, i had a partial thyroid surgery a week ago and feeling ok so far.. i hope you are well too x

kefir is a probiotic drink that you start with kefir grains in whole milk and it ferments like a whey and yoghurt which turns into a probiotic to heal the gut. It's very sour but palatable when you get used to it.

Hi I live in Dover. I would be interested in a support group. I agree Hasimotos's not being treated optimally. I am not impressed by the way I've been treated by NHS so far!
Hi LJE05, I have had battles with endos and the GP and sick of myself and how i feel - fatigued, low mood, w8 problems, fibromyalgia, and this awful fatigue that just hits me like a train about 6pm onwards.
Let us hope that we can get a fair few of us and have a meetup.
Hi yes it would be good to arrange a meet up. I have an endo appointment on Monday. Not looking forward to it as I know he is a diabetes specialist and worried that he will try to force a decrease in levothyroxine as my last tsh test a few weeks ago was 0.05. It has taking weeks on 100mcg for me to feel well again. I have no symptoms of over medication and believe I will start feeling awful again if they reduce my dosage.
Just be firm with the endo. They all seem like sheep; only follow one protocol which is written in their bible and governed by big pharma. I feel very bitter towards mine.
Unfortunately it seems on all to common a story. People not being given T4 when they need it & when they are eventually given a prescription it is then poorly managed.
My TSH was 9.2 two years ago when it was first tested. Feeling very ill earlier this year and it was tested again and was 9.8 by which time I was telling the GP I thought my symptoms were due to under active thyroid (my mother has hypothyroidism & so did my maternal grandmother). Third GP I had seen at practice gave me trial of thyroxine & I asked for antibody testing which came back positive.
They pay too much attention to lab results to diagnose (at 9.8 my TSH hadn't reached the magic no 10) & then when they do eventually medicate they pay to much attention to TSH levels & and not enough to T4 & T3 levels. I have just paid to have my T3 tested because have only had TSH & T4 testing via GP surgery.
It sounds like you have had a battle with an endo.
Not sure why my GP has bothered to refer me to an endo to be honest. I didn't ask to be referred. My Mother has never been referred to an endo and she has had hypothyroidism for 30 years.
Hi, Is anyone interested in meeting still. I am in Bexleyheath, but willing to travel further into Kent to meet. I also stay in Thanet ay my caravan, so can meet down that way also. Would live to meet up and chat about condition, what helps, how you get on with endos and Dr etc.
I haven't managed to get enough interest but I have renewed interested in arranging a meetup as we have ladies from Deal, Dover and now you in Bexleyheath, me in Gravesend and now Mandy in Longfield. I also have a caravan, it's a touring one.
