1st 8 week check up

Have been taking 50mcg for 8 weeks now , Had fasted bloods done on Monday including no Levothyroxine for 24 hours and have appointment with gp on Friday to go over results . I work in pharmacy and was surprised to see a script has been sent down for increased dose Levothyroxine 100mcg daily . My question is what do I need to ask on Friday as this is all new to me and am aware that I only have certain amount of time with the gp and I just want to be prepared . Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi Mitch70. Out of interest, what are your blood test results? As you know I'm pretty new to this too, but I'm interested that your doctor has decided to up your dose by 50mcg, as the standard advice on here seems to be for 25mcg increases.

Get my results Friday D day ! Ye had same thoughts myself so going to stick to 50mcg for time being then put my results up on Friday see what the real experts say n take it from there .

The real experts are definitely here rather than in our GP surgeries, sadly!

It's a fermented drink, ie a probiotic. Another thing I have learnt about very recently! All part of trying to help my gut. Here is the link to my post on this which resulted in lots of good advice (hope the link works...):

My doctor started me on 100mcg of levo when I was diagnosed 7 months ago I had some nausea to begin with but I'm glad she did now I believe the new protocol is to start higher doses if you're relatively healthy?

Hi Claire walker751

Thanks for that I didn’t know that, halved my 50mcg last night to take 75mcg but may just take 100mcg tonight then .

The GP has increased your Levothyroxine as your level must be low, I went from 50 mcg to 100 mcg and then to 125 mcg ( I had to work hard for my GP to up my dose, all he would say was that my levels were ok, but I felt terrible now I'm on 125 I feel fine, I've managed to lose 1 stone in weight, just another stone to go and I will be happy) I would ask for your results, then you can keep track of what is going on, I did, I posted them on here, took their advice and then when I went back to see him I told him about this site and he increased my dose. I have been asking for 2 years.
