Hi all , I accidentally took two 100mcg levothyroxine this morning , is there any cause to be concerned? I got heart palpitation tablets upstairs and I always take two of them at the same time and for some reason I associated my thyroxine tablets downstairs with the ones in upstairs , maybe because they are same size blister packaging and same size tablets.

I'd say it depends on how sensitive you are, but thyroxine is released slowly compared to T3 which peaks a couple of hours after taking it. Thyroxine also has a long half-life compared to T3. After raising the dose, it takes several weeks for higher levels of T4 to build up in the blood. So you have nothing to worry about; this single "overdose" will not raise your FT4 levels.

I think we've all done something like that...but, don't worry, it's much worse taking a double dose of T3 as that is fast acting (unlike T4).
Are you saying that you take your 'heart palpitation' tablets - Beta Blockers? - at the same time as your levo? That is not good. You should leave at least two hours between them.
Levo should always be taken on an empty stomach, with a glass of water, and then nothing but water for at least an hour before food, coffee, tea, etc. Then two hours before you take other medication or any supplements. Otherwise, you will compromise the absorption of your levo.
Hiya , I take Propranolol 10mg 1-2 tablets at night if needed and levo in the crack of dawn when I wake up. Propranolo is upstairs next to my bed and levo In the kitchen but because for some reason I associated the tablet pack being same and being half sleep I dished two tablets from the levo blister strip.

I'm also kind of interested in the need for palp pills - the only time I needed them was when I was overdosed for some time on Levo. Have you seen your thyroid blood test results recently?
I was prescribed beta blockers for palpitations.Last time I had palpitations that wouldn't stop I ended up in A&E then on the ward overnight for observation.After all the tests I got a diagnosis of supraventricular tachycardia(again-1st time was in the 90s at the same time as diagnosis of hypothyroid disease)the consultants told me NOT to take beta blockers,as they wouldn't help,just to sit it out.It happened again last month.Spent all day in bed.They stopped next morning.My heart is going at double speed,Can only lie flat with no pillow.
I get them much less often & for shorter periods when I have T3 in the mix
Exactly the same thing happened to me! I ended up in A&E with my very worried son holding my hand! My reason was T4 - way too much of it. But before my GP realised that you cant just double someones dose I had a 24 hour heart monitor. I'm so much better with T3 and much less T4.
I had blood test 3 months ago and I keep record on all on my tests , I will have test tomorrow ( fasting one )
My whole medication business is rubbish , I have had total thyrectomy and they have kept me on 75mg/50mg on alternative days on levo for years, I have been breathless for coming 3 years in February. Falling asleep at work. They stare at the results ' its in within the range' they say. Last month I was angry at doctors and he finally gave in and gave me 100mg trial and blood test tomorrow. I would probably feel better if I was allowed to try T3 but wouldn't even know how to go on about it.
