There is a specific condition that causes this problem and I can't remember what it is. I think it appeared on the television programme, 'embarrassing bodies' on one of the episodes.

I saw that as well. I'm going to have to see if I can find the name of the condition now so I can tell the poster.

yes please tell me if you find it. thank you

Yes you are right I watched it only a few weeks ago but I cannot remember the outcome either. If you were to goggle some of the episodes you may find the cause.

Apparently it is sulphur causing the onion smell in women, men smell cheesy! Cut out all spicy foods. Make sure you dry well after washing.

I don’t eat spicy food, thanks for the suggestion

There was a similar post a few years back when I googled the problem and there several responses from women with the same problem but no specicic solution.I did not check all posts but I noted one mentioned various foods.

I think you should google the question and do as much research as you can but not expect a simple answer.

Hi, I think Treepie is on to something. I have been reading about sulfation which is something your body does to process certain food. And it does have to do with sulfur. When you lack the enzyme needed to process sulfur (which your body needs by the way) it will use other means to get it. Sulphur fixing bacteria is generating when it can't get through the normal route. Overgrowth is often there for a reason. Do you eat eggs or kale? I think they may be involved and they suggested this supplement which you can also check out beside high sulfur foods. molybdenum

I found this information on a series about SIBO which is bacterial overload but in your case it is needed for your body to produce nitric oxide. I wish I had more information but there is a Facebook page and you may find out more from SIBO Summit II.

Usually a high level of sulphur compound. Found naturally in us ladies. Your natural bacteria might be too alkaline. When they mix an onion type smell can be omitted. Have you tried a herbal deodorant. No anti perspirants. I think lavender or Tee tree reverses this.

No I didn’t tried herbal deodorant Yet, I will give it a try but do you know any good brands? Thanks

As Marz said. Also I was given some Neals Yard but that’s expensive from Waitrose etc. Also the no aluminium rock salts work. Bottom shelf in Boots & most health shops. Or Ebay!

Using Apple Cider Vinegar as a deodorant could be a short term solution :-)

Body odour isn't always about poor hygiene.

Sometimes people have disorders and/or nutrient and enzymes deficiencies that can cause this. This is also a strong message from your body to let you know that something is not right.

Not getting enough of a certain vitamin, such as B-12, can cause some people to have odorous gas -- but not necessarily an unpleasant body odor.

Mineral deficiencies, particularly of zinc and magnesium, are more likely to cause body odor.

Those deficiencies will also encourage an imbalance in the gut bacteria. Your doctor's prescription of the wide spectrum Metronidazole/Raziole was an attempt at targetting some of these bacteria and existing parasites.

Onions and garlic, although you've mentioned that you are not eating onions, are high in sulphur, and so is milk. This smell can indicate that your body may also be lacking the enzymes to break down the sulphur-containing protein.

Perhaps it is now worth asking your doctor to check your thyroid function and the thyroid antibodies, liver function, and test your levels of B12, ferritin, zinc, vitamin D.

i absolutely know how you feel. i have this problem. i had worked out a layering system that sorta worked. well, it worked the best out of any other methods, but it was not 100%.

but...

i did find a new product that has worked! and i mean worked!

lumedeodorant.com/

i was highly skeptical when i tried it, but it does work. it passed my very gross testing phase and it is the only thing that has passed. haha it was developed by a dr, it is aluminum free and baking soda free (it does NOT give me a rash. again, the only thing that worked in regards a rash as well), and a list of other great stuff. it is natural and works different than traditional deodorants. they have a story on the website about a little girl that had a disorder and the treatment gave her horrific body odor. this was the only thing that worked for her as well.

please check it out. it really works!
