Hi, I'm new here and like many of you I have just found out that the NHS is going to stop prescribing liothyronine (T3). When I was diagnosed with an under active thyroid nearly twenty years ago my doctor put me on higher and higher doses of t4 but within days I'd be unwell again and he realised I was unable to convert t4 into t3. I was put on just t3 for a number of years and then gradually reduced the amount and re-introduced t4. I am now on a daily dose of 125 mcg of thyroxine plus 20 mcg of liothyronine. Now the NHS is going to stop prescribing the t3 and I can't convert t4 without it.
Has anyone found a legitimate way of purchasing t3 from abroad that doesn't cost too much. As I'm retired I can't afford too much but without t3 I shall go downhill very fast.

NHS England only - Scotland is doing proper evaluation of thyroid treatments, not just the cost cutting exercise as in England. What is awful, is some CCGs/ trusts / GPs have been acting as if the advice is statutory already.
Please can someone advise me. I've been on thyroxine for 3 years now and still no better, doctors will not listen and constantly tell me I'm depressed hence weight gain and tiredness.. was thinking of trying t3 supplements but im sure of what to buy or take safely..
