How long have you been taking 50mcgs Levo? Blood tests are usually 6-8 weeks after starting, or a year subsequent dose change

Ask GP to test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

Can you post your original test results, so members can see how hypo you were. Were thyroid antibodies tested too?

Hello slowdragon,

I started to take Levo from 29.09.17 which is this is my fifth week going.

I have done my second blood test yesterday upon my dr request as I didn’t feel alright.it really makes me stressed out these aches and pains low mood etc

They did vitamin test too which was roughly two weeks ago when I rang to the receptionist she said all is normal including my thyroid which didn’t make any sense (so why did they put me in Levo on first place )!?Do you think they don’t tell you the truth?is normal as an answer everywhere?

No haven’t asked for antibody checks yet shall I ask him myself !?why don’t they do them self’s to make things easier?!

I will ask on Monday for my thyroid and antibodies tested

Do not accept "normal" which just means within the range .Get the previous test results.

Where you are in the range matters.Always get the results and the ranges and keep a file.

So when ever I will ring to receptionist and ask for my results can ask for the numbers and note down ?are these my rights?or I must book an appoitment with my doctor to discuss results?as in my surgery uk if they do bloods and they r normal as receptionist says I don’t even see a doctor to discus anything

Ask for a print-out of your results after every single blood test. If you live in the UK, it is your legal right to have a copy.

When I will go to my gp on a Monday for my blood test results can I ask him to print out all my blood test results since beginning?i am in uk yes.will I need to pay and how much?

I don't know if he'll do all of them. But you could ask the receptionist to do that. Whether you need to pay and how much, depends on the individual surgery. :)

Went to gp today and had my blood results 4/5 weeks after starting Levothyroxine 50mcg and I have gone from Hypo to Hyper (is this normal ?Does it mean I have been overdosed?so he lowered the dose to 25mcg and told me to do again my bloods in mid December.I have asked him to to referr me to the private endocrinologist which he did.He didn’t explain anything else apart from lowering dose.Do you think private endocrinologist was the best choice in my case?I feel like gp doesn’t show any interest or deeper checks.

What were your results - with range ? I doubt you are Hyper. What did the Doc test ?

I expect you need an increase in dose NOT a decrease.

Post your results in a new thread so more people see them 😊

Did you have B12 - Folate - Ferritin & VitD tested ??

Might have been better to wait six weeks. But, no, you can't go from hypo to hyper, it doesn't work that way. Your doctor obviously didn't understand your blood test results. It's very unlikely you were over-medicated on 50 mcg! But, impossible to say much without seeing the results and the ranges.
