Vitamin D3 loading doses with K2-MK7 and magnesium

Maybe a silly question or maybe not. If I'm taking loading doses of vitamin D3 once a week do I need to take vitamin K2 and magnesium only on the day when D3 is taken or every day?

I'm no expert on vitamins but I take magnesium daily whether I'm dosing with vitamin D or not, it helps lots of other functions such as helping your body produce hyaluronic acid which is protective of joints and eyes. Many people are deficient in their diet

In Japan people eat Natto beans 3 times a week or more which is natural form of K2-MK7, so I'm thinking it would be good to dose a few times a week. Again, it prevents against osteoporosis apparently. Very low incidence where Natto is eaten.

I did some research on hyaluronic acid and its effects on connective tissue, joints, skin and hair. If magnesium helps produce it then that's a good enough reason for me.

Prudent to check Vitamin D3 baseline prior to supplementing check out cityassays.co.uk I’ve just ordered a pinprick test from this NHS hospital for £28 free p & p in UK. I retest at change of the clocks.

Dependant on that result I’ll supplement alongside with Vitamin K2 which keeps Calcium in the bones not arterial walls. Magnesium is crucial so I’m using Epsom salt baths buying from WestlabWholesale in bulk, magnesium oil, gel. This is stopping cramps and twitching.

Thank you for that. I already know my levels, my GP prescribed the loading doses.

Wish I could use Epsom salt but I only have a shower in my flat and magnesium oil made me extremely itchy 🙁.

Hi, when I first used a magnesium spray it tingled which is a sign that I was low. Since then I have also used magnesium cream & have a weekly mg scrub (exfoliate) before I bathe - as long as it's on you skin for 20-30 mins before you shower maybe that would help? I prefer not to ingest it as it gives me the runs! (a dose of salts!) :D

I chose magnesium malate and to be honest I had no digestive problems whatsoever. It just annoys me I have to take huge amount of pills every day.

I like magnesium malate too although I'm fine with citrate.

I was taking a high dose tablet when I started using the spray, & it stung & made my skin peel so it looked as though I had bad eczema in my skin folds. I appreciate transdermal is better absorbed, but OUCH!!! I alternate between chelated at bedtime, with water, & a spray.

I'm convinced manufactureres just say it's deficiency to make people put up with the pain! I make my own spray now, with about a 1:4 dilution of magnesium hexahydrate crystals & distilled witch hazel. If it's stronger, I have to wash it off, which is ok after 30 minutes. Most healthfood shope sell the crystals, & several high street shops sell distilled witch hazel, so it works out about 1/3 of the cost of the branded sprays.

I have plenty of witch hazel hydrolat (using for my face) so might try the crystals

You can use Epsom salts as a footbath; fill a washing up bowl with warm water and add the salts. Exactly the same effect as full bathing!

Try Epsom salt foot baths in a basin, green smoothies though careful with -need to steam some green veg beforehand.

Because of my bradycardia challenges I take 3 capsules of Magnesium C complex (threonate) a day am, afternoon, evening and get that from Nutrined . I’ve also started to take Researched Nutritionals Physicians Daily (1) and Core Minerals (3),

Amazing how that has helped as well. Obviously I’ve tested for mineral and vitamin deficiencies but I felt that a good baseline boost was required.

I take magnesium every day, either from tablets, transdermal spray, or a soak in a bath with 500g of epsom or 400g of magnesuim salts. My diet's high in k2 as I drink 2-3 glasses of kefir every day, & like a nice bit of brie.

Where can I find an organic kefir? I'm having a really hard time to get it anywhere.

It is sold in shops, but it's not going to be as live as home grown.

I bought 10g of grains online, which is enough for two glasses a day. If you keep it happy in organic wholemilk, it will grow fast. I have about 400g of grains, & have given at least that much away. It takes about as much time each day as making a pot of tea or coffee. No fancy equipment needed, just a clean glass, or clean jars, & initially a tea strainer.

When I was younger I had kefir in abundance whether shop bought or made by my mum and grandma. We used to get a delivery of warm raw deliciously tasty milk. Oh those were the times 😊
