Hi all. Need some advice. I have thyroid problems and am on 75 mgs daily. The thing is since our doctors practice has been taken over ordering a prescription and picking it up has been a nightmare. Our last doctor would write our prescriptions and we would pick them up two days later. This practice now has a prescriber pharmacist who has put 28 day due date on the computer system. Consequently if the month has 31 days or even 30 days the due date always is a day short. I have tried to explain. Written it on the bottom of repeat and still it is a day out. They will never give it to you a day before. You have to pick it up on the due date. So I just end up missing one day of dose. Will this matter. You would think commonsense would prevail and put repeats on system 2 days early than due date then everyone would be happy.

How crazy - I always deal direct with Boots (other pharmacies are available) - they request the prescription early and you just go into the shop and collect it. They text you when it is there too so no fuss. Hope you get it sorted - don't stand for this nonsense.

Do you think missing one dose will hurt me. Have to pick up prescription tomorrow so today have none?

It is imperative you are not short of doses of any thyroid hormones.

Tell the pharmacist you will take this up with your local MP as you need sufficient tablets to cover the shortfall.

Thyroid hormones have to be taken daily. Tell them they have a duty to give you sufficient hormones as today you have taken none.

Never heard of it before 😣

I had a doctor like that! Would prescribe for three months, she said, three boxes of levo, but boxes contained 28 tablets. She would then make my next appointment for three calendar months time - 30/31 days. So, at the end of thee months, I was several days short! She just couldn't seem to get her head round that. In the end, I just gave up and changed doctors.

I get three boxes of 28 at a time but can always reorder about a week before I ran out and even earlier than the due date by explaining online that I would be away at the due date,

Ludicrous treatment. I'd say it is unprofessional. An MHRA report even recommended a three-month prescribing interval.
