Feeling really negative

Hi all,

I had my thyroid removed due to thyroid cancer in August 2016 and it's been a battle getting the meds / supplements seeming like they're balanced.

My problem at the moment though is that I feel really negative. Both my husband and I do. He lost his mum in January this year and we're just reaching for the bottle (when I say bottle, for me it's Prosecco or lager as can't tolerate much else). We've got into a really negative mindset and are finding it really hard to get out of.

It's a vicious cycle really, we've been trying for kids for almost 2 years, that hasn't happened either.

Has anyone else had similar difficulties? Can anyone say something that will help me give myself a bl00dy good kick up the rear end? I'm not normally a negative person but life really seems to have got on top of us.

Thanks

Olivia80 Why don't you post your test results and members can comment. Thyroid tests and vitamins and minerals, say what supplements you're taking and the dose.

Not wishing to preach, but reaching for the bottle isn't the answer. So let's see what's going on with your results and we can take it from there and hopefully help you.

Morning, thanks for your response.

I know reaching for the bottle isn't the answer and it's not like it's even a conscious decision, we just end up doing it!

Anyway, I've had two days off it, I've got back into my exercise mentality and have re-joined weightwatchers to try and shift some pounds.

Here's my latest test (NHS!) results (done without having taken my thyroxine, first appointment of the day!) and a bit of info on my supplements, which I take in the evening, with thyroxine as soon as I wake up, then wait at least an hour for coffee/food:

Serum B12 (I'm supplementing a complex B/B12 from Holland and Barrett - liquid form) - 821 (197-771) so above range

Serum folate - 18.3 (3.9-25)

Serum Calcium (also supplementing - standard Tesco calcium and vit d tablet) - 2.26 (2.15-2.5)

Serum adjusted calcium - 2.12 (2.12-2.5) - so below range

Serum Ferritin - 149 (13-150)

Serum C reactive protein (7.1 (0-5) - so above range

Free T4 - 20 (12-22)

TSH (keeping suppressed) - <0.01 (0.27-4.2)

Vit D (also supplementing - but had also just returned from holiday!) - 136 (50-120)

I have all sorts of other results too, but I think these are the key ones from reading this site.

Thanks for much x

Here's a kick for you both up your rear ends.

I too had TT 11 days ago, plus 59 lymph nodes removed due to papillary cancer. Im in pain, I can't sing (I'm a singer) but I'm alive and it won't bl00dy beat me. I'm 51, its 10 years since I lost my wonderful dad suddenly. If I know one thing he would hate to see me feeling sorry for myself and boozing - you know it's not the answer.

Make SURE your vitamins etc are the best they can be, that goes for both of you.

Talk to each other. Have a rest from trying to get pregnant - when you take the pressure off its amazing what can happen! If you are feeling sh*t now, believe me a baby won't make you feel better. Would you want to bring a baby into a negative household?

Life is short. Make the most of it.

Backsides kicked x
