Mariabb,

Email louise.roberts@thyroiduk.org for a list of member recommended endocrinologists.

If members can recommend anyone they will send you a private message. Feedback can't be posted on the forum so I am closing your post to replies. To read a private message: support.healthunlocked.com/...

I recently went to Liverpool royal and although they wouldn’t prescribe T3 they were willing to monitor me if I self medicated.

Hope that helps x

Yes, thanks, did they say why they wouldn't prescribe it?

The official answer was that he thought there was no difference in taking T4 alone and T4 &T3 together. It was a placebo effect.

However I know that they have been told to stop prescribing and it was his suggestion I bought my own I didn’t mention self medicating to him x

I found The Royal’s endocrinology department to be utterly incompetence! They lost all my notes twice, & don’t seem to have a clue. Aintree seems a nicer hospital, but also clueless. My friend likes her endocrinologist at Arrowe Park, but she’s still under medicated

Thanks for reply. I am wondering if I should go private but I would still need a referral from my gp. And I haven’t really got the money to spare but I think health should come first before anything else . I don’t suppose you know any good private endrocologists in the area?

My friend goes there. Her endo seems nice, from what she says, but is still undertreating her. :(

I am just happy that they support t3 and stave off requests to get their patients off it .

But also they have rang me at home several times when I have the rang the Secretary with an issue . Lengthy phone calls . So that's why I say wonderful and dedicated

That's great!

i wish they'd given my firned the promised T3!

The endo secretary at The Royal is imaginary! I spent hours phoning. All my blood tests & results were imaginary, too! Sadly, not the rude & ignorant staff!

Hi, thanks for reply, which doctor did you see st the royal?

I've found the Royal not great. After cancer they are open to T3, but they never actually got me better :p I now self medicate, and have always had to travel to see a recommended private Endo.

I've had a couple of friends given T3 recently in Liverpool. Which makes me think the clamp down isn't as hard here yet. Although one of them has already had the old "Your TSH says you're over-medicated, so we're cutting your T3 in half", and she believed them.
