Reduction in meds

My Doctor wants me to reduce my Thyroxine by 25 mcg. From 125 to 100. I have had all this before and I to,d them It was making me feel worse. Went back on 125. Now they have started again. Going to see Doctor on Friday what's you think I should say.

Hi Sylvia.

Why does doc want you to reduce? I presume labs say you're TSH is too low....

How did you get dose increased again last time? Can you point doc to history of that?

Have you tried putting it all in writing to doc? It means you can get message across clearly, you can avoid face to face confrontation; and if it's in black and white they can't ignore you.

Plus, there is a link somewhere to say that they should treat according to symptoms. I think it is a dr Toft one. Admin will know.

Yes my TSH is 0.01. I feel reasonably well as I take supplements to help. I have been quite tired and when they reduced the dose about 6 months ago I gave it a go but it made me feel worse. I told the Doctor and said I wanted to go back to 125. He didn't really say anything. Now another Doctor is on about it again. I told him I had been through this once and said I wanted to stay on 125 .. Today I got a call from the surgery asking me to reduce my dose to 100. I said I wanted to see the Doctor and am going on Friday. I have just found a document from Thyroid UK about TSH and am going to take it with me. I will highlight the bits most relevant

If your FT4 is in range or even a little over and your FT3 is in range you should not reduce ,but they will not have tested FT3 ! So refuse to reduce unless they do .
