Dental local anesthetic.

Hi

Today I realised I have a dental check up tomorrow.

I have a loose tooth which is starting to cause pain so probably it will need to come out.

I rang the dentist this afternoon to say I will need an adrenaline free injection as the last time I had the normal one containing the adrenaline I had a bad reaction, whereby it gave me bad palpitations, shaking and trembling and I felt like I was having a really bad panic attack.

The receptionist said she did not think they have the adrenaline free type of injection, so I will just have to speak to the dentist about it tomorrow.

It is a NHS dentist, has anyone had the adrenaline free injection on the NHS and if so how did you get on with it.

My dentist swears he gives me adrenaline free injections, but I still have pretty bad reactions to them. Can't go alone, because I need someone to drive me home! Especially if the injection is in the front. So, I don't know.

I always have adrenalin free locals. Hate it but much better than with adrenaline.

With my ex dental nurse hat on I have to say all dentists should have adrenaline free local in the drawer as there are many people who need it.

had check up this afternoon and dentist said they do have the adrenaline free local. She said they have to top it up more. I have to have an extraction so I am hoping they do not have to top up too much as it will be quicker than a filling.

It's not quite as effective as the other but you should be fine, most things can be done without a top up.

Do you know if the adrenaline free local is actually the same numbing solution used but just without the adrenaline, or is it a totally different solution.

There are different brands so anaesthetic agent, vasoconstrictor and preservative will vary, depends on your dentists preference.
