OK the first thing you need to do is get a copy of any recent blood tests you have had particularly for the thyroid but you want all tests. Plus their ranges - this is important as different labs have different ranges. You need these for people on this forum to help you.

You should be able to get them online from your GP's surgery as they are the ones who would have referred you for surgery, but if they don't offer them online then the Data Protection Act 1998 gives you the right to obtain them. You may simply need to go to the GPs receptionist, give your name and address and state you want your test results with ranges for a particular time period.

If you have difficulties in getting them then start a new thread on the forum stating this and other posters will state what they did do get them.

This is the procedure to follow for blood tests.

It has to be at the earliest possible, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose of levo and test and take afterwards.

This give the best result for us, the patient.

If you've not had B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate ask for these too.

If you are not yet on the right dose for you then that can affect your periods but don't worry about that now. Let's make sure your thyroid iszworking well first.

I am sorry you have had a thyroidectomy as it is bad enough with a failing gland than having it removed altogether.

The aim for you is a TSH of 1 or below.

Everything in our body is affected if hypo, periods can be scanty or heavy but as your dose is increased everything should rectify itself.

On an optimum of thyroid hormones you should become pregnant.

When you become pregnant you will need to have regular thyroid tests and probably take 50mcg extra Levothyroxine a day, at least in the early stages. Your TSH should be kept below 2 I believe.
