"Don't get fixated over the numbers!" Grrrr

Hi Guys.

Sorry to 'ranty' post, but I need to sound off to others who will understand my irritation.

I have just got back from my blood test review with the GP who told me (suprise!) that my results were all 'in range'

TSH 2.6 (0.34-5.6) was 2.68 at end of June

T4 11.2 (7.5-21.1) was 12.1 at end of June

T3 4.8 (3.8-6.8)

He also ordered a 9am cortisol blood test:

Serum Cortisol 299 (200-700)

I queried that although in range, the results were low within it. I also asked him why my T4 seems to have dropped even with an increase in Levo. That is when he told me not to get fixated on numbers and that I was in range!

However, he has upped my 50mcg Levo to 75mcg from today as he agrees that TSH needs to be nearer to 1.

I give up!!!

Thanks for listening (Lol)

It is disappointing when you have to tell the GP what you think is best. At least he raised it to 75mcg and hope he gives you another 25mcg every 6 weeks until TSH is 1 or lower,

"Don't get fixated on numbers" just means "don't question me as I'm the expert". At least he agrees your TSH should be nearer 1. Just go back to him until you get it under 1 and you feel better.

Also aim for FT4 and FT3 to be more than half way up the range.75mcg is a low dose. Test again in 8-12 weeks.
