Seeing Endo tomorrow

I am seeing my Endo tomorrow, but not until 5.15.I am hoping he will do blood test,s should I still take all my meds during the day. I take my Thyroxin first thing in the morning, other meds ie:Vits, blood pressure tab and small amount of propranolol.Will it make a difference to the blood test.?

Yes, it will. And having it done at 5.15 will make a difference to it, too. Your TSH will be at it's lowest, so if your endo only looks at the TSH, he's going to think you're better than you are - might even reduce your dose.

The TSH is highest first thing in the morning. It lowers throughout the day, and after eating. And you should leave 24 hours between your last dose of levo and the test, or you will just be testing your last does, and not what is normally circulating in your blood. It would be foolhardy to have a test at that time of day, because doctors don't have an inkling that the time of day can impact the test.

Greygoose, does that include high antibodies, as they were very high back in July.Can you advise me as to what to say if he wants to do blood tests, I was just assuming he would, but after what you, ve told me what would I say,.

Just say you'd prefer not to, you'll do them at a more convenient time for you.

Time of day won't affect antibodies. They come and go as they feel like it. But, if you've had high antibodies once, you have Hashi's. No point in doing them again. They aren't going to go away!

Yes, it will make a difference according to best information here. Bloods will vary afternoon and morning too. Also you should not supplement any vitamin B with biotin in for a day or so beforehand as can skew results.

It can be useful to monitor antibodies.

My tests are done via Medichecks or Blue Horizon and includes antibodies

I have been able to clearly demonstrate that since going gluten free that my TPO antibodies have fallen a bit further at each subsequent test.

But TSH needs early morning and fasting, plus don't take Levo in 24 hours before test.

Hi slowdragon,I,ve gone on a gluten free diet and it's certainly made a difference as to how I'm feeling now,so much better,the last blood test was from medicheck so it will be interesting to see the difference regarding my antibodies. Thanks.

Yes my GP and endo both fascinated to see this.

I put all my test results on spreadsheet so you can see trend over time.

So it's scientific proof to them as to why we "feel better"
