Thank you for letting me join your forum. My wife has Hashimoto's and is getting worse. The doctors are useless and we are paying for non desiccated Thyroid and our own blood tests. I have recently started reading Izabella Wentz book on the " Hashimotos Protocol". Has anybody had any luck sourcing the various supplements she recommends in the UK. I am particularly struggling with supplements for gallbladder, liver and bile flow support, you can get the supplements in the States but not the UK? Any help would be gratefully received.

Hello and welcome to the forum
First let me encourage you to have your wife's most recent blood test results posted here. It's a great community with many knowledgeable people who would be happy to provide feedback. They did it for me when I joined 😁
So that means supplying results for TSH, free T3 and free T4, both Antibodies, as well as nutrients: folate, ferritin, Vit D, and B12. As we are often deficient these levels are prone to issues that In turn inhibit conversion of our dosage.
Has your wife gone GF yet also? Gluten can raise antibodies that in turn mess with conversion.
Has she only tried one type of NDT as of yet? Oftentimes we need to try 2-3 different ones to find the best suited as some have fillers etc.
As far as supplements go you can certainly buy the ones on the Amazon usa site and pay for shipping etc., but perhaps the U.K. Members can chime in with advice further on the topic.
Welcome to our forum and I am very sorry your wife is very unwell with hashimotos - it is the commonest cause of hypothyroidism and I will give you a few links for info:-
Hashimoto's is the commonest for of hypothyroidism as it is the antibodies which attack the thyroid gland and they wax and wane until the person is hypothyroid.
I haven't read Isabella's book but I believe some on the forum have done and hopefully will respond.

This is a link about leaky-gut and I think the aim is to try to reduce your wife's antibodies by going strictly gluten-free. Within this it gives suggestions how to heal leaky gut:-

Members who've had the same conditions will respond as well.
p.s. you say you are paying for 'non-dessicated' Thyroid but I assumed Thyroid was a dessicated thyroid hormone replacement.
When your wife has a blood test for thyroid hormones it has to be at the earliest possible time, fasting (she can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between Thyroid and the test and take afterwards. All Thyroid hormone replacements should be taken on an empty stomach with one full glass of water.
Blood tests, TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3.She should also have B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate. Deficiencies can also cause symptoms. It is best to have vits/minerals checked before supplementing.
Always get a blood test results with the ranges as it makes it easier to comment.
Many of us who complain about stomach issues can be issued with antacids, when in fact it might be lack of acid which is causing the symptoms. We add to our supplements digestive enzymes or Betaine with Pepsin when we eat meals.
A thank you to Rusty64 and Shaws (administrator) for your help. I have more reading to do but at least its heading in the right direction.
