Advice Please for Dental Work

Just had a check up with dentist & need 2 fillings & a tooth removed. She advised that there would be plenty of pain relief available 😩 by way of numbing and injections. I have read somewhere that caution has to be taken with Hashi patients/T3&4 takers. Does anyone have any up to date info on this or advice please?

Hi Smudger :) The important thing we should do without is adrenaline, which could make us feel very poorly / result in a fit. You might expect to be advised of this when we're diagnosed but it never happened with me. If you ask for anaesthesia without adrenaline and make sure they have it before you turn up, it should be fine. I had a root canal recently and although the numbing was wearing off after about 90 minutes, that's long enough to be in a dentist's chair at a stretch, I'd say. Good luck

Make sure it is all over your notes not to use adrenaline, and then check again as he approaches you with that huge needle! They get used to just using the same stuff, they dont check the notes. I have had them say "oh, we have got the normal stuff ready, it will be fine!" and had to say that if they give me the one with adrenaline in it, they better call an ambulance straight away. It did stop them, mainly I think as they would be open to a law suit!
