I'm fairly new here. Following advice from posts last month I decided to get some Thyroid testing done with Medichecks. I'm wondering if people could please comment on my recent results and tell me if it looks like I have a problem with my Thyroid.
Your TSH is over range which confirms primary hypothyroidism but unfortunately it's not easy to get a diagnosis sometimes until TSH reaches 10. However your under range FT4 also confirms hypothyroidism so one would hope your GP will diagnose and prescribe Levo.
These confirm autoimmune disease, aka Hashimoto's, which is where antibodies attack the thyroid and gradually destroy it. Hashi's isn't treated, it's the resulting hypothyroidism that is.
You can help reduce the antibodies by adopting a strict gluten free diet which has helped many Hashi's members here. Supplmenting with selenium l-selenomethionine 200mcg daily and keeping TSH suppressed can also help reduce antibodies.
I haven't looked back at your previous posts, but all nutrients need to be at optimal levels for thyroid hormone to work (our own as well as thyroid replacement), so us Hypos need the following levels:
Vit D - 100-150nmol/L according to the Vit D Council
B12 - very top of range, even 900-1000
Folate (works in tandem with B12) - at least half way through range
Ferritin - at least 70 and I've seen it said 100-130 for females
