Brief history. My 27 year old son was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 12 months ago and started on 50mcg Levo. Never really felt well but TSH was always around 1 so had vitamins and antibodies tested and started on usual supplements.
Antibodies were high so referred to endo. Had private bloods done before endo appt which indicated he was overmedicated and reduced Levo to 25mcg in May (although now realise he was having Hashi flare and shouldn't have been reduced)
Just had TSH done at GPs and its 29.3. Message received from GP last week to increase Levo to 75. Saw different GP today who informs my son that she has a specialism in Thyroid and calculated he should have been started on 100mcg Levo originally, talked him through everything and suggested he gets an ECG done. She's kept him on 75mcg for now to see how he goes on.
Although my son is happy to find out we have a GP who appears to know about Thyroid we can't believe that the other GPs he's seen in the practice didn't suggest he makes his appointments with her.
