You have to give the ranges when you state the results of blood tests. The ranges are important as labs differ.

However, you are hypothyroid with a TSH of 13.41. Your doctor should prescribe levothyroxine, starting dose 50mcg with 25mcg increases every six weeks following a blood test until you feel better.

Blood tests are to be at the very earliest, fasting (you can drink water) and if on thyroid hormone replacements (levothyroxine) you allow a gap of 24 hours approx from the last dose and test.

Request a prescription from the doctor for 50mcg levothyroxine.

Ask GP to test B12, Vit D, iron ferritin and folate. Always get a copy of your blood test results for your own records and you can post if you have a query.

Ask GP to test thyroid antibodies. If you have them you have an Autoimmune Thyroid Disease called Hashimotos. (the commonest form of hypothyroidism) and the antibodies attack the gland and wax and wane, sometimes too much antibodies which might make you feel hyper.

Remember to get the test at the earliest, etc.

Were the two tests done at the same time of day? TSH is highest early in the morning, and drops throughout the day. It also drops after eating, so best to do a fasting test.

also it is said if you are sick or have a infection , the tsh will rise and why drs don't like to check it when people are sick in the hospital is what I was told......also low nutrients like iron b12 etc can cause it to go up because your thyroid needs selenium and all kinds of things to function normally...that happened to my son.....
