Tailbone pain...could it be linked to thyroid?

I have tailbone pain. I'm only 39. Doc just told me I'm deficient in folic acid as Iv also been feeling tired. Does anyone know of any link with tailbone, thyroid and B vits? Anything at all??

Thyroid problems and low B12 are common - have a look at the pernicious anaemia site, vits/minerals in general really, low levels slow us down.

As for "Tail bone" coccyx, bone trouble could be just low iron/Vit D. Ask your GP to check levels, if he won't you can just pay privately. :)

8 months ago I posted about tailbone pain. It’s very bad and I take painkillers. Last few months Iv had painful joints. Doc tested for vit D and I was borderline insufficient/deficient. 32. 30 and below was the borderline and ‘sufficient’ is above 50! So now I’m hoping that the big dose they due to give me will perhaps show signs of improvement with coccyx. Do you think possible? The tailbone is like a knife some days!

I had horrendous tailbone pain before being diagnosed and then adequately treated for both the thyroid and vitamins and minerals.

Really???? That's the most relief Iv had. So you had pain in tailbone area and now it's gone? Were you under? Over? And any specific vit/min you were lacking?

You can click onto my name above and read my Profile - it will only take a couple of minutes. I have weekly B12 injections which are beneficial for nerve pain .....

Morning Marz

I have developed really painful tail bone pain over the last few months and suddenly wondered if it might also be connected to hypo, so turned to the folks here and found your helpful comment above...

Thyroid function, vitamin and mineral levels currently under review because my GP - much to my great relief - now accepts that I am (possibly!) not converting properly. Based on help here that looks certain.

Good to hear you recovered from this particular pain after treatment and hope you are keeping well.

Best...

Good that you are positively investigating and finding answers :-) Yes I rarely, if ever have tail-bone pain and can sit for much longer. There was a time when I couldn't sit through a film ! Still happier lying than sitting !

Am keeping well and enjoying the cooler days of winter here in Crete.

Keep up the good work and I will look out for your next results ....

Be well ..... M

Might it be an injury?

No injury. It feels swollen as opposed to bone injury.
