Hello.
I've recently completed two private blood test with MediChecks. I have long standing health concerns regarding energy levels, wide ranging muscular aches and pains, restless legs and other vague symptoms.
The first blood test was completed and results reported in early May of this year. The blood test was a wide ranging review of Vitamins and Hormones. The results were all within range except for B12 which was high (as expected) as I had been supplementing with B12 and folate. Supprisingly my TSH was towards the upper end of the range at 3.88 mIU/L (range 0.27 - 4.2) and Free Thyroxine 11.5 pmol/L (range 12 - 22). These results recommended a further follow up test a few month later looking more specifically at Thyroid function.
Within the last few days I have completed a second blood test with MediChecks, looking more specifically at Thyroid function. Results are:-
TSH 3.2 mIU/L (range 0.27 - 4.20)
Free Thyroxine 12.41 pmol/L (range 12.0 - 22.0)
Total Thyroxine(T4) 74.9 nmol/L (59.0 - 154.0)
Free T3 4.78 pmol/L (range 3.10 - 6.80)
Thyroglobulin Antibody 611.4 IU/mL !!! (range 0 - 115.0)
Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies 351.5 IU/mL !!! (range 0 - 34.0)
Do these results indicate Hashimotos?
What the next steps to get this recorded or adopted / accepted into my NHS record?
Treatment? Having been a regular visitor to the Thyroid UK area of HealthUnlocked I've read many recommendations for going Gluten Free \ Lactose Free in relation to Hashimotos. Are these proven and clinically supported ways of managing Hashimotos. I'm concerned that these major lifestyle changes could prove to be swapping medical problems for lifestyle limiting problems. I do love a Sandwich and a biscuit.
Thanks all for reading, and I look forward to you advice and guidance.
