In 2014 i had a blood test and thyroid peroxidase antibody was 419.4 and positive mitochondrial antibodies.I still have no explanation from doctors as to meaning of results and have been placed on levothyroxine.Could anybody explain what these results actually mean, and if i should be seeing a specialist.

Jenbean,

Thyroid peroxidase antibody level of 419.4 means you are positive for autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto's) which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Levothyroxine treatment is for the low thyroid levels it causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.

How long have you been taking Levothyroxine?

Positive mitochondrial antibodies are a separate issue to thyroid peroxidase antibodies. See google.co.uk/search?q=posit...
