I've got a printout of recent tests. The GP is treating me for slight anaemia and low Vit D. GP had informed me of Thyroid antibodies but said as TSH is normal I'm just likely to develop a thyroid issue in the future.
I'm going to get some private blood tests done as i want find out levels for T3 & T4. Looking at my results I'm wondering if I should be considering an alternative autoimmune problem. These are the ones flagged as below or above range and also my B12 Folate which looks on the low side though not technically out of range.
TSH 2.09 [0.3 -5.6]
TPO antibodies: 141iu/mL [0.0 - 60] (POSITIVE GREATER THAN 100)
25OH Vitamin D: 39 nmol/L [50.0-999.0]
FULL BLOOD COUNT
Mean cell volume (42A) 79.6 fL [83.0-101.0]
Mean cell haemoglobin level 25.0pg [27.0-32.0]
Red blood cell distribution width 15.8% [11.6-14.0]
Red blood cell count 4.96 10*12/L [3.8-4.8]
IRON/TIBC
Plasma Iron level 9.5 umol/L [9.0 -27.0]
Plasma total iron binding capacity 73 umol/L [40.0-70.0]
ESR 20mm/h [0.0-7.0]
B12 & FOLATE
Serum vitamin B12 level 317 pg/no [180.0 914.0]

TSH >2.0 indicates your thyroid is beginning to struggle but NHS won't usually diagnose primary hypothyroidism until TSH is >5.6. TSH only testing doesn't exclude a diagnosis of central hypothyroidism.
Thyroid peroxidase antibodies are positive for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's). There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Levothyroxine treatment is for the low thyroid levels it eventually causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies and may help delay progression to hypothyroidism.
Vitamin D is deficient. My sister's GP prescribed 2 x 20,000iu D3 per week to raise vitD level from 40. You can buy vitamin D3 without prescription from Amazon. If you buy on Amazon please use the affiliate link healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...
Low MCH, low MCV, high RDW, low in range iron & low TIBC indicate iron deficiency anaemia. labtestsonline.org/understa...
Your GP should prescribe Ferrous Fumarate 3 x 210mg but it will be cheaper to buy it from Amazon. Iron should be taken with 1,000mg vitamin C to aid absorption and minimise constipation.
The GP prescribed Vit D3 20,000iu but for 1 per week so I'll increase the dose. The GP told me to buy iron but I bought iron bisglycinate. Is it worth switching to ferrous fumarate?
Do you think there's any point in me getting private blood tests for T3 & T4? I'm struggling to function on a basic daily basis and the GP seemed to imply I shouldn't feel as bad as I do as I'm not that deficient But D and iron-wise.
