Sussex, UK: Please recommend me an NHS Endocrinologist who's knowledgeable about Hypothyroidism and may also be open to prescribing NDT.

Hi,

I'm asking my GP to refer me to a local endocrinologist but I want to make sure I see the right person, especially as my GP isn't particularly knowledgeable about hypothyroidism.

I've been on Thyroxine for over 15 years, and the past year has seen a marked increase in my hypothyroid symptoms. In all this time I've only been under various GPs for the hypothyroidism. I need to take it to the next level in terms of who I see and what treatment I receive. It's time for a specialist!

Any recommendations for super-duper, NDT-sympathetic Sussex NHS Endocrinologists gratefully received. Please PM me if you'd prefer.

Many thanks for your input!

Abi.

Abi-Abster,

NDT isn't licensed for UK use so it is rarely prescribed on the NHS. Most members using NDT have private prescriptions or buy online and self medicate.

Email louise.roberts@thyroiduk.org for a list of member recommended endos. If you pay to see a private endo make sure you contact his/her office to confirm endo prescribes NDT before you confirm appointment.

If you post your recent TSH, FT4 and FT3 results and ranges in a new post members can advise whether you are optimally dosed on your current medication.

I'm closing this post to replies because any recommendations about endocrinologists should be sent to you via private messages. To read a private message: support.healthunlocked.com/...
