In march TSH was 3.2. Then 8 weeks on 25 MCG. Then:-

tsh 2.3 (0.3 - 4.5)

ft3 5.3 (3.1 - 6.8)

ft4 18.5 (11 -22)

Then 6 weeks on 50 MCG. Results now after 50 MCG:-

TSH 1.3

FT3 5.3

FT4 23.1*

I have appointment with GP tomorrow. I made a mistake last week before blood draw. Took my tablet as a matter of habit despite knowing that I had to wait until after blood draw.

Anyhow, I think I am somewhat better than before but far from what I want to be. Pain is less but strength in my legs is still not great. My most trouble is in climbing stairs. I know my legs were affected by vitamin d deficiency but I have kept it good since then. Taking with k2. My shin bones ache randomly near the top inside on and off Just below the knee). My ferritin is 74.

Important question is: should I ask for a dose increase or at least insist on maintaining the current dose (I don't want to reduce it). GP might not increase it because FT4 is over range. FT3 has not moved and plan was to bring TSH down to 1 which it has not reached yet. Could such a little more fall in TSH from 1.3 to 1ish make a noticeable change to my legs' strength?

Please advise what should I tell the doctor.

Thank you.

As you took tablet before your last test the results above will be skewed. Your GP will take one look at your FT3 and FT4 and be flummoxed. Ask for a new test and remember not to take tablets before (it can be a good idea to have an alarm set for morning to remind you not to take dose) till you get used to the routine.

He will not increase your dose, I think, as your results are way off usual.

Joint/muscle pain can be common in untreated/undertreated hypo and I'll give you a list of symptoms and I'm sure you can tick off a few of the symptoms.

Thank you Shaws. On second set of results I wrote 1.3 as my FT3 but I have now corrected it. It continues to be 5.3. I don't think doctor will agree to retest. I will insist to keep me on 50 and retest in 6 weeks. This is my punishment for not remembering! I hope she does not reduce the dose. If I tell her I had taken the dose before the test, it would not mean anything to her because they don't believe in these rules.

As your FT3 is slightly above I hope she knows what happens if taking hormones immediately before a test.

I did the same once with T3 only and before I sat down and GP looked on the screen I said the results will be out as I took T3 before blood test. He agreed to another test and next week, believe me I took no tablets before. :)
