Loss of body hair including under arm, legs and arms
McGraw99 They can be symptoms of Hypothyroidism. Have you been diagnosed Hypo? Are you on any thyroid meds? If so, what are your latest test results (include ranges) and what dose of meds?
McGraw99,
It could be low thyroid hormone, low zinc, low iron/ferritin or a combination of them.
Have you had a thyroid function blood test or ferritin blood test?
Loss of underarm hair can be low DHEA. I have had this problem for almost 20 years, I also have lost a lot of pubic hair, I have a huge round bald patch. I was told in my 40's it was " aging" I have very low cortisol, and low DHEA. I read about the connection on a patient leaflet written by endocrinologists, which I copied my GP. Since taking some hydrocortisone last year I've noticed a bit of hair grew back. Have lost eyelashes, eyebrows and the top of my head and temples are much thinner too. I did notice my leg hair had stopped growing, also my nails stopped growing for years . Since taking thyroid meds now for 6 years my nails have started to grow again, but my hair is more stubborn!
After fifteen months on levothyroxine, from a high TSH starting point and many horrid symptoms, my leg hair is now growing back, Today I could touch the tiny wee hairs without them immediately falling out, as they did in previous weeks.
I like my smooth armpits but the pubic hair I would LOVE to see regrow. Two-thirds of it has vanished x
