Hi not been on here for a while, the last post I put on was over a year ago and I was feeling well, didn't last long and have been back to gp as I have aching legs, tired, memory loss hair loss etc... referred me to endo, had my appt and I asked for t3. After a few tears he said he would let me have a trial 😁, I have started on 10micrigrams twice a day along with letho of 75, I started Friday and I'm not really sure when I should start feeling different or better or even if I will, does anyone have any advice please, thankyou

Hayley.

Without knowing anything about your lab results, 20 micrograms of T3 per day sounds like a lot as a starting dose...would it not be wiser to start on a lower dose, say 5 mcg per day, or possibly 10 mcg (5 x 2), along with T4, and then reevaluate how you feel after 4-6 weeks? Otherwise, you risk ending up with too much T3, resulting in out-of-range FT3 levels and a suppressed TSH likely to make your endocrinologist freak out and tell you to go off T3 altogether...plus, and more importantly, some quite unpleasant symptoms of being overmedicated. T3 is about four times stronger than T4, so an overdose of T3 can result in quite unpleasant hyper symptoms if you take too much or raise it too fast.

Your ability to convert T4 to T3 will also affect how much T3 you need to take in the end.

I am not saying you don't need 20 mcg of T3 daily, just that it sounds like a lot to start with...have you been on thyroid hormone replacement before and, if so, which brand(s) and how much?

Hi I have been hypo for 7 yrs and when I see endo he had my blood results and did the prescription I would think accordingly I only have a month supply as a test, I will keep an eye of how I feel and as soon as I notice anything different from usual I will be back to see gp, I'm not really sure as to amounts i should of started on but hoped the specialist would. Thankyou for your reply I will keep an eye as getting fed up with feeling a lot older in the body than I should be. 🙄😁

I see from your last post you were on 125 levo? Your Endo has obviously taken this into consideration when prescribing your trial -take them and see how you feel, but do give them a fair trial-a couple of days is not enough!
