I was diagnosed with an underachtive thyroid in march this year I had one blood test which showed I had it then the gp put me on 50mg of levothyroxine and I had another blood test 3 months later. I was told by his secretary (after I asked what happens next) 'that's it'. I haven't heard anything since and I thought if you have issues with the thyroid then you have regular blood tests? I know the simple answer is make an appointment and ask him myself but I don't want to waste his time and I'm thinking is it because I'm on a low dosage? Thought I would check with you guys first
Thanks for any advice

You have a right to know how often they will re test you. If you dont want to go in, just book a phone call with the senior practice nurse or a doctor. Either should know the procedure.
You should be retested six weeks after starting the 50 mcg (not mg!) and given an increase of 25 mcg, and continue that process until all your symptoms are gone. 50 mcg is just a starter dose and 'that' is not 'it', in say shape or form! The either the woman doesn't know what she's talking about, or the doctor doesn't! So, go back now and tell him you want a test and an increase. You've been on that starter dose for far too long!
