HI All,

I am currently on Estrogel , i am 12 year post hysterectomy where all was removed...

Do i need Progesterone to balance the Estrogel ?

Anyone else with no uterus using Estrogel and Progesterone , any side affects or problems ?

What dosage are you on? As i cannot seem to get it right with Estrogel and Progest cream..... and coming to the end of my tether to get all this sorted

Thanks

Sorry can't help with this but I had a hysterectomy 17 years ago and have never been given anything which is why I think I have so much wrong with me now. I have severe osteoarthritis in many joints, fibromyalgia, chronic weight gain, lymphoedema, unwanted hair growth and I really think hypothyroidism (undiagnosed and untreated). I have long thought that I should have been getting some form of hormone supplement. I hope you get some good answers. Joolz.x

Hi

I had a full hysterectomy 20 years ago . I had an oestrogen implant straight away then put on oestrogel , which I have used since. However, following a breast scan I weaved myself off if last year.

I recently saw an endo specialist who immediately put me on esterol patches x 2 a week.

His reasons were my vit d levels were very low , estrogen levels low and he wA concerned re osteoporosis . I had a bone scan which showed mild oesteopenia but he says I need to continue with the patches and have regular mammograms progesterone has never been mentioned in 20 years accept initially after my surgery to say it was not needed.

In my lay person's opinion, yes, you do. Many doctors seem to think that the only reason for progesterone is to stop uterine cancer in those taking oestrogen. Actually, progesterone is used by many processes in the body, and it's more common to have a (relative) progesterone deficiency than an oestrogen deficiency. For example, heart-health-guide.com/incr... the body takes hormones to compensate for low progesterone making you feel like Cr@p and tired all the time, with messed up adrenals.

What are your current blood results for oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone and DHEA?

Thanks for the reply... not had my bloods done for a while.... back in Jan E2 was deficient and Pg was in range but on the low side. Had testosterone bloods done a month ago and was basically 0. Currently on 5 mg of testim gel....libido is returning slightly.

Things do improve now and again but don't stay stable.... if mood is better, physicals are worse... if mood bad physicals better... this is now dragging on and don't know how much longer can cope
