I know I have low adrenal reserve and struggle to manage stress. I am about to do a very restrictive SIBO diet and treatment and want to see how my adrenals are doing.
To avoid any interference with the test...please can you tell me if I should stop my LT4 15ml TEVA Oral solution and LT3 20mcg 07:00 and Metavive x2 16:00 before starting this test and also should I stop any of my supplements : Vit B12 Vit B complex, Calcium Citrate, Selenium, Vit D Vit K2 MK7, Omega 3/6, Magnesium Citrate, Vitamin C....digestive bitters/ACV with mother.
I am struggling with hay fever so I take Cetrizine HCL 10mg x ~3 and Fexofenadine 180mg x1 and Rhinitis is so bad that I would like to take some Beconase, but I think it would interfere with the test - how many days of no Beconase before I could do the Cortisol test accurately?
Also is it s good idea to also do a DHEA Sulpahte test too?
Thank you for any advice

Below is a list of more common supplements or medications that may be influencing adrenals. Many patients state they stop taking as many of the over-the-counter supplements they can for “up to” two weeks before testing. Some may not be able to go that long without them.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Some of the below are not easy to get off, or shouldn’t be stopped. For example, if dangerous depression would return by getting off 5-HTP or anti-depressants, patients might need to nix getting off that. Always work with your doctor before considering stopping any medication or important supplement, please!
Also, some are pretty much out of our system within 24 yours, like caffeine,
I've done a couple of saliva tests for cortisol. I also take 5-HTP for depression four times a week. I wouldn't stop taking 5-HTP for 2 weeks for the sake of a saliva test. I'll just bear in mind that I was taking 5-HTP when I did the test and accept that it can never be absolutely 100% accurate.
Hi amasufindme - yes I would test DHEA at the same time, especially if you habe to wean off supplements or meds first! There is still a lot of discussion whether pregnenolone or dhea are better for supplementing low hormone levels or if it is better to supplement the end hormones, but it is one more piece of the puzzle so I would test for it.
