Feeling worse with increase of Levo

from 50 per day to 75. My tsh has come down from 62 to 13 and my t4 has gone from 7.7 to 13. I was diagnosed on 21 April 17. I feel worse and worse. Do you think this is me not tolerating the Levo?

It takes months to recover and your TSH is still too high. You will need another increase and probably will then start to get better.

This is a very common thing to happen when starting thyroid meds. Your T3 levels will have been high in the tissues when your TSH was high. This is the natural way the body works to compensate for a slow working thyroid.

When you give T4 the body will sense more T4 and so relax the TSH production. This has happened to you. But a high TSH also helps conversion of T4 to T3 and so your tissue levels of T3 have probably dropped off.

Read Dr Blanchards book about hypothyroidism because he explains this issue quite well. The solution is to also take a very low dose of T3 with the T4 in a ratio of 98:2. He reckons this ratio is the best way of treating thyroid patients.

If you increase the T4, feel better for a few weeks and then feel worse, then increase again eventually, feel better and then feel worse, this is a good indicator you need some T3 as well.

Do you have hashimotoes disease or just a low functioning thyroid ?

Vitamin D can help thyroid function, plus there are loads of other vitamins and minerals you could look into to help the overall thyroid system.
