This was a finnish study and they suggest need for vitamin D is individual. It only needs to be tested once and you will know how much you need to supplement.

This test is available in Finland already.

I think someone would have to explain that to me in words of one syllable. I cannot see the logic of that at all!

As I read it, this "How much factor" test is required in addition to the standard 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 test.

Given the standard test result, you use the "How much factor" to more accurately gauge how much to supplement with.

(Of course, I might have got the wrong end of the stick!)

It's measures the response to vitamin D. If it is low , (it's genetic btw) you need higher dosage of vit D. Of course you can get to the same result by normal vit D testing but this new test tells how much is needed to to reach the needed level for wellbeing.

So it is cheaper in the long run and less guessing are you taking enough.

Similar tests are coming to European market to measure pretty response to anything which allows one to tailor their diet and medication suitable for them. I know the test measures drugs but not sure if for example levothyroxine is one of them . But it is interesting if it does! As I feel so many would want to know what is their individual response and what does doctors have to say about it!
