Joint ache, headache, muscle ache. All aching! What could it be?

Hi all,

I had been feeling good for a while, taking my levo and feeling fine.

However the last 2 weeks I started to have extreme bad headache, joint ache and muscle aches. I never experienced it this bad. I used to have muscle aches when my TSH was bad but they wouldn't last this long. I can't even work because of the headache.

I got my TSH checked and it is 1.0 so very good level.

What else could it be? Do you know any vitamins etc I should get checked?

Doctors in Netherlands are useless, they don't suggest anything so I have to go to them and ask for the tests.

Thank you!

Missymystique,

TSH 1.0 doesn't mean that FT4 and FT3 are good. Can you get FT4 and FT3 tested? Ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate blood tests are recommended as they are often low/deficient in hypothyroid patients. Joint and muscle ache is often due to low vitD. You could try supplementing magnesium citrate or use a magnesium oil spray or Epsom Salt baths to relieve the muscle aches.

Hi Clutter, thanks for your reply, I added the test result to my post. I will ask for vitamin D testing as well

Sorry to hear you are struggling, missy. Have you had your important vitamins and minerals tested? B12, Vit D, Folate and Ferritin? These need to be optimal.

You say that your TSH of 1.0 is good - and indeed it is, but have you been tested for Free T4 and Free T3? If you have those results, post them here and the experts will advise.

Many things can cause headaches. Vitamin B12 deficiency is certainly one of them.

Hello, yes they tested for Free T4 and it looks normal too (in my post). I know I am b12 deficient but does it cause constant aches-non stop? I will get supplements. Thanks

Among getting your blood work done, I know Magnesium deficiencies can lead to all of these symptoms. You can't over does on this so just buy 250 - 400 mg and take 1x day. I take mine before bed because it helps you sleep.
