Silly Friday 😀

In case you've not spotted it before this is my 3rd week trying to raise a smile through the woes we all have / have had.

Please feel free to join in with anything you think may raise a smile. Silly things you've done, lost the remote and found it in the fridge perhaps ? Or just something about the world that needs a daft explanation ?

I think that's where I'll start this week. I hope this doesn't offend, no offence meant just amusement !

Why is it that my eyebrows are only half there and my shoulder length dark hair redecorates the bath after a soak. But my moustache and my lady garden grow like the clappers ! Although I should be thankful that I've never really grown much under arm hair, makes for a quicker job 👍

hi there kitti, have you heard the latest on the nhs hacking ?..... they have discovered that the reason that it hasn't affected any doctors is that the virus cannot get past the receptionist !!!!!......may raise a smile or grin [ ironically ] .....alan x

Kitti1 in reply to alangardner

Liking it 😂👍

I read something like that, read a bit like this - the hackers first came across a load of notes for hypothyroid patients which mostly read - middle aged women with nothing better to do but come and mither me ( doc ) with minor ailments, including her weight, she eats more than she says and is lazy. I don't know about hypothyroid more like hypercondriac.

They wondered why they'd bothered hacking !

Yes, t'was me :) This was what I said:

But who is going to want our records when they mostly say "she is middle aged, overweight, obviously lying about how much she eats, needs to get off her arse and do some exercise, deludedly thinks it is her thyroid, prescribed anti-depressants". Hmm? ;)

Alan, I love that joke - definitely explains why my surgery wasn't affected! :D

alangardner profile image
alangardner in reply to BootsOn

also explains why you cant get an appointment for your doc --- even if he/she is good ........ if the hackers cant get through what chance the rest of us ???????......... but its a bit close to truth if you think about it !!!!!

:D I used to have blonde hair on my legs and it didn't bother, now they are black and grow long. I feel disgusted every time I see my legs :D I hate shaving!

I have never put remote control in fridge, but I have put vitamins in the cupboard, clean dishes in the fridge and left over food in the sink.

Later on when I went back to kitchen I realised the left over chicken is not safe to eat anymore even though it was in a container, but had been on room temperature for hours. I couldn't find my vitamins and was very confused to find a pile of clean plates in the fridge.

I have also baked peanut butter cookies without peanut butter in cold oven and yet made perfect peanut butter cookies! How's that possible?

When I realised I had forgot to add peanut butter the cookies had been in cold oven for 15 minutes. I got some sort of brain function left and instead just turning the oven on I scraped the raw cookies back in the bowl and mixed in the peanut butter! In the meantime oven got ready and I managed to bake perfect cookies :D

Clean dishes in the fridge is worrying 😂 ! Glad the cookies came out well ... In the end 👍

And if I put any of my tablets away I forget to take them so they live on the shelf next to me !

Yeah I have noticed it's best to keep meds and vits somewhere you can see them!

I can't understand how my 70 year old dad remember to take his meds and vits that are all over the house.

Like when he was on metothextrate and folic acid, those have to be kept in the fridge and taken once a week five hours apart each other. He didn't have any type of reminder or alarm on.

Now he is on biological meds that has to be first of all transferred in a cooling box, which you have to remember to put into a freezer at least 16 hours before going to pharmacy. Then the cooling box needs to be open 40 minutes before placing the meds into it so it doesn't freeze. Then at home it has to be stored at certain temperature before using it.

I couldn't do that without setting up 200 different alarms and placing 500 post it notes all over the place :D

I have a very good mate that lost his mobile phone , had to go and get a new one [ at his cost ] - with new number , and then had to let everyone know his new number [ at his cost ] .... this all after tearing the whole place apart ......3 weeks later he found it in the FREEZER on an empty shelf ....... no wonder I call him a doris !!!!!!

Yes, I'm normally pretty much the same as you Kitti1 in the hair department and it's really annoying me where I've lost head on my hair recently but absolutely none of the places hair loss might have actually have been appreciated. I also hate shaving and is a rare occasion - maybe swimming but even then, I've got swimming leggings and I only have to do the ankles providing me with a graded effect lol!

I don't have a moustache mind you but am growing several on my chin I have to keep yanking out - why can't my head hair grow as fast as this!!!!!!

I also have my pills on the side right next to my kettle as this is the only thing I do habitually every day :-)

I thought I was losing the plot the other day when I left a pan on low to 'hobble' the dogs? Didnt burn the house down or ruin the pan but....

Great stuff. Look what else I've got to look forward to ? Lol

I decided to do a roast chicken with the breast down in the roasting tray (blame Jamie Oliver!) and when I got it out at the end of cooking I totally forgot about that and gasped 'where's all the breast meat gone?' until Other Half reminded me it was underneath the chook! OH still teases me about it to this day! :D

Over 9 years ago, when I used to smoke, on several occasions I would light up a cigarette when I still had one lit in the ashtray.

I once spent hours looking for my glasses and they were on top of my head! I now wear them on a band thingy around my neck.

I once spent hours looking for my car keys, they were in the fridge! I now look in the fridge first when I 'lose' anything.

I once believed a GP would help me when I was sick. I now know this was a silly belief.

Have a great weekend!

zerendipity profile image

I used to smoke and quite often I happened to click the lighter before my face without a cigarette in my mouth. Good I have quit smoking.

Saggyuk profile image
Saggyuk in reply to zerendipity

My daughter had just turned two and I told her she had to give up her dummy, her reply was simply: why should I, my dummy is the same as your cigarettes! From a two year old lol! I had no argument as she had a point and didn't want to quit myself so I had to do the one thing I never do which is to bribe her and asked what I could get her to give it up instead and she said "real make-up like mummies" with a real gloaty look. Suffice to say, she spent the next month with purple, pink green and blue dust and lipstick all over her forehead, nose, cheeks and chin - none of the places anyone actually wears makeup lol :-)

Zephyrbear profile image
Zephyrbear in reply to zerendipity

I actually managed to put the cigarette in my mouth back to front and lit the filter end on more than one occasion when I was smoking... It didn't taste very nice and ruined the filter by melting it! Ahhh, those were the days...

alangardner profile image
alangardner in reply to Zephyrbear

oh my god , you mean I wasn't the only to do that -- I have done that many times [ don't half give a bad taste don't it ?] -- ???

How true is that about the gp !

I spent ages the other day looking for the tv remote, even trying the kitchen and bathroom, it was in my hand !

Hope you have a good one too : )

My ginger cat is a very greedy eater. I feed him every four hours but he has a habit of sitting and whining next to his bowl whenever I'm in the kitchen. He will whine 5 minutes after his meal and it's very believable - he sounds like he hasn't eaten for two weeks.

Sometimes he gets double meals because in my demented state I forget that I have already fed him.

Kitti1 profile image
Kitti1 in reply to zerendipity

Near constant feeding of cats sounds like our house, I have 7 ( I know I'm mad ! ) I cant keep up with who's eaten and who hasn't. So its a near constant feeding frenzy !

zerendipity profile image
zerendipity in reply to Kitti1

You are not mad, you're simply a cat person. I'd love more cats but in an apartment it might just get too crowded.

in reply to zerendipity

I have two cats who know how to wind me up. Wailing willie a Siamese mix, wails dolefully until the begging noises get on my wick. The other cat starts to eat my computer leads, - it is a magic trick, instantly I am lead to the food bowl which

has just been emptied. The other family cats all get onto the band wagon, coming through the flap at regular intervals, stealing food when ever they can. The pouches are getting smaller, so the tin food is out - if they don' eat it then they are not hungry!

Hi kitti

That truly made me smile!!!

I only have half me eyebrows which are blonde and in the summer go so blonde they disappear completely !!!! Yesterday I waxed my top lip and got fluff stuck to the excess wax!!!

I washed my tray the other night and left my plate on the side !!!

I think you have to learn to laugh or be destroyed!! Simples!!!!!

Kitti1 profile image
Kitti1 in reply to Snoddyoddbod

Yep Simples !! 😂

Your brave waxing 😮 I'm a coward and use that cream stuff. But where my moustache finishes and my plump rosey cheeks start I always manage to get the cream on my cheeks a bit and it reacts and leaves red marks for few days - great look !

I do feel a bit like an old geezer - going bald on top and hair sprouting from undesirable places. I guess I should be thankful its not coming out of my nose and ears 👂👃😂 !

How about regaine for women? Is this hormone related or to do with thyroid?

Haha 😊

Need to share this, I went for a reiki this morning, AMAZING. Have More energy than in ages, going back!!!!

She said I am split down the middle, one side is underworking the nurturing of me and the other side has gotten over practical and over worrying , over analysing, basically all out of balance!!! Which is definately my thing as I'm a Libran and if my scales are out of balance I have always known I feel rubbish, never of course to this extent!

So if synical I understand, but this was amazing, half way through it my rambling thoughts stopped racing I got clear calm perspectives and I've had the most brilliant day without anx in sight, over anxious has been operative word for longer than want to say

If this helps just one person to feel better , worth the ramble!!! Xx

Yes there is hope, (Had a lot of big stuff ) she said I'd forgotten the smaller good things as overwhelmed, so now fillling up bucket with all the lovely things that have happened, including yesterday and my knight in shining armour etc!!!

alangardner profile image
alangardner in reply to Jeppy

but always remember that there will always be more better things than bad - if you don't dwell on the bad things - as well as your knight in shining armour will get the good karma that he/she gave out to you 10fold in many ways that may not ever relate directly to you ....... give out bad karma , it bits you on the bum at some time , give out good karma you will always get a return ........ I bet the lovely bucket is a damn site bigger than the other one ? ........ alan x

Kitti1 profile image
Kitti1 in reply to alangardner

I just wish that karma thing would get itself a satnav and find its way back to me with some good stuff 😀

I do agree with you 👍

alangardner profile image
alangardner in reply to Kitti1

you would be surprized on how the good karma comes back - in many other ways and forms [ when you need it - not want it ] ..... it may take time but will be there when you really need it , it don't need a satnav its a magnet to your karma freely given before and will return in other ways

Try a transplant LOL

Hi Kitti - like your dipsy days - had a good one when shopping with small clothes hangers on

a childrens rack. As I tried to take out a back hanger it hooked onto the one in front as I pulled it

the clothes fell off some of the front hangers leaving a twisted gnarl of hangers with slipping clothes - as I tried to tackle the job, my hand bag fell on the floor leaving my glasses upturned on the floor - moving round supermarkets. Often brush past cannisters or pots of lotions some how dislodging them into a rain shower over my head as I reach up to the shelves which are too high.

When I get home there is always a hunt for receipts as either they go in a pocket or I clutch them

in my hand, - they free themselves as I put down bags, and disappear into hidden recesses behind walls or under the bedroom floor. This natural clumsiness or cluttering, is part of thyroid disease but also can be due to crossed laterality, where one side of the brain takes over

the function of the other so you can be right handed and left legged!

I laughed at your comments about hair growth in those subterranean regions etc but as

I did a course in beauty therapy, to improve my stakes as an icon ha ha - a thousand years ago..

would suggest that your should look for a beauty therapy salon in your area that does IPL

NON laser hair treatment using ecolite as it is non invasive. Alteernatively you might find

SHR hair removal which is different to standard laser treatment. Some people get redness

after laser treatment. If you live in the London area Reena salon waldgrave rod Teddinton Middlesex might be a good salon or belle clinic Fenchurch rd the City.

If you have hair on your back it is difficult to do yourself. Other light machines such as lumea

made by |Phillips can be hand operated for areas such as the lower abdomen, bikini area facial

hair. The most expensive one is £549 it emits gentle pulses of light to the hair resulting in the

follicles going into a resting phase. Hair sheds naturally and regrowth is inhibited.

Worthwhile to look at blogs or info about users of this product online. its in Argos catalogue-

the cheaper one is £219.99 - expect it is the same. XXX to your puss cats

in reply to Kitti1

"Beauty Formulas" is the name of the company. If skin goes pink or stings

immediately scrape off cream and wash area in cold water. Successful on facial hair and leg hair. No need to reply.

Have read argos reviews - the least expensive has mixed reviews - one lady said it had

removed her under arm hair and bikini hair but did not remove facial hair - others said it was very good - another lady said it did not mention contraindications for use such as diabetes - went onto

Philips site and could not find any info about the contraindications. If you don't have a problem

it is probably ok - but sometimes thyroid patients have dry skin.

The treatment with ecolite is probably the safest but you would have to ask the beauty salon if there are any contraindications. Gadgrant

Have found a product called Hair Removing Cream enriched with honey for a smooth soft cream

fragrant rose sensitive mild formulation. Its for face and bikini line. What it does is weakens the hair growth so it is finer when it comes back. I went through a phase of very black shiny hair growth on my legs. I tried Phyto oestrogen for over a year, and this helped from health food store. When you shave the hair it may come back thicker than before, so if you use beauty formulas cream if hair grows too thickly it should grow back finer. Tower House Kirk Lane Yeadon Leeds L519 7LX UK. There are products which actually lift the body hair colour so it doesn't notice. I found it useful for upper facial hair, - it was a gentle formula - the skin can go pink if you leave it on for more than the time advertised but goes down. As a diabetic I have to be careful of skin products.
