So i had my all round blood test and theyve told me my thyroid levels are good my tsh is low which is good however theyve said my iron is low and my alkaline phosphate is high in my liver. do you guys have any ideas how to lower it back to normal? They said normal is 130 and mine is 152.

Could it be linked to being low in iron?

thanks guys!!

You have titled your post hyperparathyroidism but not mentioned anything that relates to that, do you have parathyroid disease ?

im thinking i do because i have high alkaline phosphate which can be caused by hyperparathyroid? wondering if its linked with low iron too?

Alkaline phosphatase is a liver enzyme and not related to parathyroid disease.

I know :) but my alkaline phosphate is high. And I did some research and says this can be caused by a vitamin D deficiency and calcium deficiency. Was wondering if was linked to iron. I take 5000 iu of vitamin D a day

The liver enzyme you refer to is called alkaline phosphatase, this is totally different to phosphate, in hyperparathyroidism phosphate would be low not high but as I said the two are different.

Oh! My bad! I'm on about phosphatase. Sorry! Yeah because I'm too high in that enzyme

Depends what the cause is, can be liver or bone related also some medications and Vitd deficiency can affect the level. You are only slightly over the range so Drs would not usually worry about it, just monitor. My Alk has been over 400 for 10 years and no cause found.

Wow really? Okay. She did say it's nothing to lose sleep over. But they wasted 8 years of my life when they repeatedly told me that about my thyroid so always like to do my own research! Could be the vitD. Thanks for your help bantam :)

If it's just your alk raised then could well be a temporary thing, if anything important was going on other liver enzymes would be high over a long time.

Yeah okay. Do foods affect it? I'm guessing so. Okay, yeah I'll keep an eye on it with regular check ups. Thanks
