Thyroid scan
Kel34,
A thyroid ultrasound scan will measure the size of your thyroid gland and will show the condition ie whether there is damage typical of Hashimoto's, whether the swelling is localised or impacting other organs, and whether there are cysts or nodules and, if so, their size.
The ultrasound is non-invasive and not uncomfortable. Gel will be smeared on your throat and neck and a hand held camera glided over it to record the details. It will probably take 15-20 minutes.
I had the Ultrasound scan of my Thyroid before diagnosis. I asked for it.
If the Radiologist doesn't comment, I would just ask. Or go to GP after for results.
What was your diagnosis? Did you have Blood tests of Thyroid Antibodies? Did You see Endocrinologist?
My diagnosis was Hashimoto's Autoimmune Thyroiditis & Hypothyroidism.
