Just had my endo appointment - I think it was a success?!

After 4 extremely unsuccessful & unhelpful appointments with my GP she referred me to the endo in October. It's took till today to get to see him but I think it went quite well & would be great to hear if you agree or I'm missing something.

My GP referred me with 'tiredness'!! I explained my very long journey to get to see him & told him I'd actually sourced my own NDT (Thyroid S) and have been feeling great on it since November last year. He said that whilst he can't prescribe NDT he has a lot of patients who say it helps them. So he acknowledges that I see a benefit but as a doctor can not recommend it - that's fine I can deal with that.

I did mention that the 3 stone that took 2 years to put on is not moving despite a PT & good diet. He asked me if I'd noticed any hard skin under my arms (no), back of my neck (no), have I become more snappy (less so since NDT), noticed new stretch marks on stomach (no) & any hairs on chin (no) - he didn't indicate why he was asking this but did say if we are supplementing with a hormone & you're not losing weigh then another hormone needs looking at!

He asked me a few questions that ruled sleep apnoea out.

He's asked me to do 2 x 24 hour cortisol urine tests a month apart. He's also doing blood tests for Thyroid (inc T3), cortisol, prolactin, testostorone, protein electrophoresis, connective tissue disorders & coeliac.

Hes asked me to go back in 3 months when he has the results but he would ring me if there's anything significant.

I'd really like to hear other peoples thoughts on this if you can.

Thank you

Sounds like a good experience and that he is being very thorough. Hope he finds something to give you the answers you need. 😊

What's a PT?

I suspect he may have been wondering about Cushing's Disease or Cushing's Syndrome, both of which are caused by very high levels of cortisol. Alternatively he may have been wondering about insulin resistance or diabetes.

Personal trainer 💪🏻

Ah, I've been googling for ages & couldn't find what it could be. I didn't have any so I guess that's one thing ruled out.

He was asking if you had symptoms of Cushings (high cortisol).

I looked that up last night & looking at the symptoms there's a high chance that's what I have. I'll see what the results say. Thanks for the info
