Anxiety & insomnia with low dose ndt

I have never taken hormone replacement. I recently started on WP thyroid, one quarter of a grain. I have had anxiety during the night and insomnia. Is this normal early on or might it be sensitivity to this brand? I'm not sure if i can make it another night.

Hi, there's no thyroid history in your Profile but looked at a couple of posts and you haven't yet been diagnosed, I believe. You have seen Dr P.

Are you worried about being undiagnosed and a bit nervous of taking thyroid hormones. Your symptoms are common when first starting thyroid hormones until you slowly increase your dose. Your dose at present is the equivalent of about 25mcg of levo and usually 50mcg is the starting dose then 1/4 tablet NDT around every week until you feel better. Too low a dose can backfire slightly. Also take your pulse/temp several times a day when beginning.

Hi Shaws, and thanks for the message. I'm sure I'm hypothyroid as my blood test showed this. I have many symptoms too. Doing tthis alone, not through doc.

First day I took half a grain, but anxiety was strong so took quarter last night but same night reactions. So you think I should continue with half a grain? Should these symptoms peter off?
