Liquid levothyroxine back to tablet form.

Hi,

Just wondered if anyone can help me with this dilamma.

Currently my ranges are just about ok I would not want to increase it or lower it much at all.

I've been on 125mg of liquid of which I was told should be a lower amount than the tablets as it's more readily absorbed into the body.

My gp was clueless on dosing both in liquid and tablet form. He decided dispite what I told him to put me on 125mg of tablets by teva. I sincerely think it should be 150mg.

If I'm wrong let me know but I've not started the tablets yet as I don't want to upset my system more.

I don't have any ranges but they are ok and I don't want them getting worse as I'm already tired to begin with.

All this change is due to teva bringing out a lactose free option in tablet form. Any thoughts on the tablets would be welcome as it's a new formula. The liquid does burn my stomach as it full of rubbish anyway.

O.K. ranges don't give members the information required to help.

Is it possible to get a print-out with the ranges that you can post. Also, 125mcg Teva may suit you as it is how 'our body feels' rather than what dose we take which is the best criteria. If you have clinical symptoms after six weeks on the 125mcg then the doctor may increase your dose.

Knowing where in the range your results are is important. Ask for the ranges next time you see your GP.

If you were taking the equivalent of 125mcg liquid Levothyroxine and your thyroid levels were satisfactory it is reasonable to start taking Teva at 125mcg.

A few members have reported adverse effects on Teva. It doesn't mean that you will also have adverse effects. As the liquid Levothyroxine doesn't suit you there is nothing to lose by trialling Teva.

I know everyone here will read straight past what you typed and interpret it appropriately. Nonetheless, it really does help to use the right units. It should be micrograms (mcg) rather than milligrams (mg). This is most particularly important when discussing different products with medics - and where the liquid products combine both micrograms and millilitres to inform of their dose.
