Teva versus Activis ?

Hi everyone out there,. I started my hypo journey in January and am just about to finish 3 months on 25 mcg of Levothyroxine. Will be back to gp in next couple of weeks . My concern is over the brand I'm taking ( Teva ) as I keep reading posts on here about how bad it is compared with the Activis brand. As I have only been exposed to Teva and haven't had any side effects, although I haven't seen much improvement as it's only a very small dose, should I be concerned ? And does anyone know why Teva is not as good as Activis ?

Many thanks .

Milpol As you've had no side effects then you might as well leave well alone. Teva could very well suit you. Change to Actavis and you might find that doesn't suit you, some people don't get on with that brand.

25mcg is such a low dose that you probably haven't felt much benefit yet. Are you having a blood test soon? It really should be done 6-8 weeks after starting Levo or a change in dose.

When having your blood tests always book the very first appointment of the morning, fast overnight (you can have water) and leave off Levo for 24 hours. Do this every time. This gives the highest possible TSH which is what is needed when looking for an increase in dose or to avoid a reduction.

I expect that you will have a 25mcg increase in your Levo. Make sure that you are retested after 6-8 weeks and if you then have another increase you will need restarting 6-8 later again, etc, until you feel well.

Thanks for your response Seaside Susie. My gp is fairly on board with Thyroid issues so as she told me to take nearly all the tablets ( she gave me 3 months) before going back for my blood test , I thought I'd better not go back before then for fear of making her feel I hadn't listened to her and as I feel I definitely need an increase in dosage, didn't want to Jeopardise my chances ..

However , I will heed your instructions as to what to do pre next blood test.

Once again Susie thank you for helping me out. You truly are a shining star ⭐️ xxx
