Carbimazole side effects.

I have been taking 40mg of carbimazole daily since the start of April. In the last week I have experienced an all over the body rash and feel like my skin is crawling!!

I phoned my GP and was advised to take antihistamines 1 hour before taking my carbimazole. It's taken the majority of my itching away, but I still have this rash.

Have many of you experienced the same? Did you just put up with it? Was your meds changed?

Hi. After 4 weeks on carbimazole I developed hives (or urticaria) - mostly on arms an legs and SO itchy! My gp telephoned my endo and I was switched to ptu as they could not rule out that it was caused by carbimazole. I was fine on ptu.

Hi I didn't experience that but I'm sure it's on the list of possible reactions. Anti histamines aren't usually recommended to be taken if you're on beta blockers as well or have palpitations. You can ask to be switched to PTU (propylthirouracil)

That's good to know, as I am on beta-blockers and had a palpation today ( which I've not had since starting on meds).
