Advice before seeing my Dr?

Hi, I’m new here and just looking for a bit of advice really.

I haven’t been diagnosed with anything thyroid related, so hope this is ok to post, but I’m going to see my Dr on Monday because my symptoms seem to suggest that I might be.  Tired all the time, feeling constantly far too cold, bloated and constipated, my skin and hair always feel really dry, weight gain, and struggling with exercise that I generally enjoyed a few months ago.

I’ve read a lot about people not getting diagnosed properly, so I’m really looking for advice about what I should be asking to be tested for, so I can know for definite whether I have a thyroid problem or should be looking elsewhere.

I really appreciate you reading, and any responses.

Thanks!

Thanks so much. I'm hoping that my Dr does think it could be thyroid related so I get properly tested. It would be nice to have a reason for all this, I've no idea what it could be otherwise!

I gave up with GPs. I recommend first contacting a holistic practitioner in your area who will test you properly.

Illustrateddame,

Arrange your blood test early in the morning when TSH is highest and fast (water only) as TSH drops after eating and drinking.

Ok great thanks. Sometimes they can do them on the day and my appt is at 9am so won't be difficult to skip breakfast just in case they can fit me in. Thanks again

I agree with noji

you're about to start the most frustrating journey of your life.. I've also quite the NHS and am taking alternative natural hormones prescribed by a natural practioner and feel better in 2 months than I have in 20 years.

good luck
