Symptoms of struggling thyroid?

I have been so busy trying to get to the bottom of my daughters Heath problems that I haven't noticed my own health. I wonder if I should have my thyroid function checked?

I have put loads of weight on. Put it down to menopause so have been trying very hard to shift it and not an ounce is moving?

I have been tested as low in neutrophils recently

I am tired and a bit foggy brained

I am losing some of my eyebrows (lower third)

No underarm hair

Clearing my throats constantly feel like I'm choking

Any advice would be much appreciated do I go down the GP route or blue horizon?

Many thanks folks

I would say that everybody should get tested for thyroid if they are unwell. In an ideal world, it would be the first thing doctors would test. If nothing else, it gives you a base-line.

As to whether NHS or BH, why not try NHS first. That might come up with something without having to spend all that money. But, if it doesn't give any clues, then you can go for BH. :)

Blood tests for thyroid hormones have to be at the earliest possible, and fasting (you can drink water). Also if you are on thyroid hormones you allow 24 hours approx from your last dose and the test and take afterwards.

Ask for TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies. B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate.
